The experience I had during the WOP was so amazing. I can’t stop thanking God and Kolping for giving me the opportunity   - thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also appreciate the effort that our facilitators made, Aunty Bea, Aunty Ulrike, Koketso and Njabulo. I want to thank you guys what you did was very huge!

I acknowledge them empowering us to become better people. I learnt a lot during the WOP – to value our Life and have recognition and appreciation. The support our facilitators gave us was so outrageous – they were so patient and most of all - not judging. They guided us to identify who we are, what we want in life – because when I got to Kolping I didn’t know who I was, what I wanted – all I wanted was to just get a certificate and get a job! I realised there was more to life than that just a certificate. I feel so blessed.

My name is Langutelani Mashele and I was part of the 2019 WOP that started in August, and we were the last group for the year.

My journey in with Kolping started by seeing a friend of study towards his qualification with Kolping’s help. I had no idea what to expect on the first day of the WOP and in my mind I just had to go and prove I deserved the funding to study, at least that’s how I thought was expected of me and pretty much expected of the WOP.

The two-week program really turned out to be a lot more than I expected and brought a lot of change to myself and mostly how interact with others. The most impactful thing to come out the program was how much more self-aware I was. I learnt to really look at myself and really understand who I was and where I wanted to go beyond just studying and ending up with a career I knew I wanted above anything else.

WOP is a life changing experience! Little did I know that it would impact me so much, how I would change and how it would broaden my perspective on so many things. It was an opportunity to come together, interact with people from different backgrounds with similar yet different experiences, an opportunity to explore, understand and learn from.

My view on most things has changed tremendously. We came together with people, communicated and learnt about their daily challenges, giving you an opportunity to reflect and be grateful for the little that you have. It has changed my mentality and taught me not to act on impulse, and made me more humorous!  I have become less pessimistic and more thoughtful. I have learnt to solely focus on the good in every situation, no matter how far the bad outweighs the good.  I have become more empathetic and not to judge any situation, because it is only when you've experienced it then only you will understand why that specific decision was made.

I was at Kolping February/March 2019

I thought I knew who I was, but thanks to the WOP programme and the lovely staff, I now know who I really am!

Kolping has not only taught me how to work through conflict with someone else, but also to love and respect myself.

I know how to approach anything with confidence.

Kolping has given me the chance to study further in the career that I love, to spread my love among others and to give inspiration. Since finishing with Kolping, opening up with others, understanding their cultures, likes, dislikes and ambitions has made my outlook on life so much better. I had the chance to study Sport Conditioning through Trifocus and can gladly say that I am more than competent in my career.
